Kenya

Day 1

Welcome to Kenya! Once landed at Jomo Kenyatta International Airport, a member of the Explore Africa Tour team will meet you at the airport and transfer you to your hotel.  We know getting to Kenya is quite the journey so take some time to nap, freshen up and prepare for your time of exploration.

 

Day 2

First, we’ll head to feed the elegant giraffes of Giraffe Center, and if you wish, you can even get a giraffe smooch!

Next, if you’re in the market to adopt, how about an orphaned elephant? We’ll visit the David Sheldrick Wildlife Center, and see the orphaned elephants, learn about the conservation center and watch the baby elephants feed and roll around in the mud.

Lastly, prepare for a cultural Kenyan experience like no other. We will head to Bomas of Kenya where we will enjoy a local lunch and then have a guided cultutal village tour and with a grand finale of engaging cultural entertainment.

Save your stomach, because our welcome dinner in the evening is best enjoyed on an empty stomach! Dine on traditional food and meet the entire Explore Africa group. 

 

DAY 3

Start off the day with a hearty breakfast, you’ll need it! We’ve got a long day ahead of us as we travel outside of Nairobi to the Maasai Mara National Park. Along the way, you’ll see the true beauty of Kenya as we move across the country have the opportunity to get your first glimpse of the famous Maasai people of Kenya. The Maasai known for raising cattle, but are also known to be fearsome hunters and warriors.

After checking into our camp site, we will adventure off into the Masaai Mara for an evening game drive.

DAY 4

There are no two game drives alike, and a game drive is a quintessential African experience. Kenya is one of the best places on the continent to view one and so we hit the savannah early in the morning with hopes to see the diverse wildlife in Kenya.  Be ready to be wowed by the BIG 5, the legends of the Africa wilderness, elephants, lions, buffalos, leopards and rhinos.   As it is peak migration season, we hope to have an unforgettable experience.

In the late afternoon, we will visit one of the Maasai villages and learn about their customs and traditions.

DAY 5

It’s time to head back to the city. We pack things up and hit the road back to Nairobi. On the way back we visit, Hell’s Gate National Park, where creators of the Lion King travelled to find inspiration for the movie. While at the park, you'll get to see the real life inspiration for Pride Rock.  

After we’re back in Nairobi, hotel check in.

DAY 6

During every Explore Africa Tour experience we dedicate a day giving back and spending time in the community on the Myles & Ruth Munroe Foundation Day. This year we have identified a worthy cause and we can’t wait to pour into them. We will spend travel (via flight) to the city of Eldoret where we will enjoy some time giving back to a local community there.

If you’ve promised family and friends a trinket from Kenya, after our foundation actives, we will spend some time shopping for souvenirs.

DAY 7

It's so hard to say goodbye, but we hope you made enough memories and took enough pictures to last a few forevers.  We'll get together one last time at breakfast and then we say our final goodbyes to Kenya. A member of the Explore Africa team will be on hand to see you off to the airport!
